Listen, when you’ve been in the practice room for hours and a friend comes in and comments on the smell but you don’t smell anything…take their word for it and air that puppy out.

If slide positions were emotions.
1st Position - Comfortable, Safe
2nd Position - Confident, Strong
3rd Position - Angry but in control
4th Position - Frustrated, unsure
5th Position - Adventurous
6th Position - Vulnerable, Hopeful
7th Position - Out of Control, Lost
Of course there are slide positions in-between these, but that’s for the wiser more mature people. It takes years of practice to experience those slide positions.
Great musical groups don’t hope they’ll get better, they believe they will.
